MTV PRESENTS… Fightstar Acoustic Night Review
New ‘MTV Presents’ series of shows
Part of the new ‘MTV PRESENTS’ series, Fightstar played a special one-off acoustic set at the famous Camden Dingwalls. Hidden behind the hustle and bustle of Camden high street, the small music venue hosted Fightstar in a rare and stripped back mood for the exciting new ‘MTV Presents’ series.
Celebrating the release of their deluxe re-issued album ‘Be Human’, this special event was witnessed by a capacity crowd of die hard fans and music industry bodies. The crowd seemed to cover the whole age spectrum and not just the bright young things one might expect. By the time we arrived, the queue was already stretching round the corner as more and more fans arrived. Support was ably handled by Lower Than Atlantis and Spy Catcher but the majority of the crowd were here for one band, and one band only.
At 9:30pm Charlie and his crew took the stage to a roaring and appreciative crowd and they certainly didn’t disappoint throughout the night. ‘Palahniuk’s Laughter’, ‘The English Way’, and ‘Paint Your Target’ went down a storm. Part way through the set, they played a cover of Jordin Sparks’ ‘Battlefield’ which also went down extremely well. High point of the night though had to be the beautiful cover of Don McLean’s classic ‘Vincent’. At the end of the night Simpson couldn’t thank the appreciative crowd enough and after a long emotional speech, played one final song to which the entire crowd joined in at the top of their voices.
Seeing them with a home crowd in support we got a real sense that they were in their element. After a night like this we certainly look forward to seeing them again soon. Roll on Sonisphere 2010.
